To deliver the work scope, TSG Marine supplied an integrated design, fabrication, mobilisation, demobilisation and overall project management support package.
TSG Marine provided vessel audit support to ensure the PSV identified to assist with the operations met the project specific requirements, including dynamic positioning capability. TSG Marine also equipped the vessel with a “tyre net” which allowed the existing lifeboat to be lowered directly onto the PSV and thereafter to be securely transported.
Phase two of the project was to install the replacement lifeboat. In partnership with Ampelmann Operations B.V. (Ampelmann), who supply heave compensation technology, TSG Marine provided a heave compensated platform to lift the lifeboat directly from the PSV.
TSG Marine designed, analysed and fabricated a class approved lightweight lifting platform in eight weeks. In addition to the lifting platform, TSG Marine also supplied a load transferring structure to ensure that the forces applied to the PSV’s deck during transit and the lifting operation, did not undermine the integrity of the deck structure.
The installation of the lifting platform and associated equipment took just forty eight hours, including survey by the relevant classification societies. As part of the support package, TSG Marine also provided personnel to oversee the lifting operations and supplied the required safety equipment.
Upon successful completion of what is believed to be the first ever heave compensated lifeboat installation, TSG Marine demobilised the lifting platform and all accompanying equipment in less than twenty four hours.
